Introduction
The old town is encircled by strong medieval walls a typical example of the techniques of fortification of the 14th -15th century built by the Knights of Saint John to protect the city from all dangers.
The impressive walls with their wide ramparts are reinforced at intervals towers ,while the entrance to the medieval town is through eleven magnificent gates.
Just out side of the old city of Rhodos you can see the Fishing harbor and the some people sailing sponges.
Follow the the paved alleys , under gate ways and colonnades, through squares and obscure courtyards ,next to impregnable walls and Byzantine churches .You fell that you are living in the troubled past of this place,but at the same time you discover that this city still inhabited ,with it's lively commercial activity ,the Archaeological Museum ,the Art Gallery ,the Museum of the Folk Art ,and it's night life ,is very much alive in the present.
