Where today is situated the village Gennadi, in the ancient years the " Pedieons’ " Municipality existed that is mentioned by the archaeologist Bligerpege. The domain of Lindos had twelve municipalities on the island and at least five more in the opposite Mikra Asia.

Hiller another famous archaeologist, asserts that the " Pedieons’ " Municipality was located between the coast of the village of Asklipiou and the beach of Gennadi. The other municipalities of Lindos were the " Ladarmions’ " municipality, the " Vrasions’ ", the " Kattavions’ ", the "Lindopolitons’ ", the "Lamindions’ ", the "Pagions’ ", the "Netideons’ ", the "Clasions’ " and the "Argions’ ", including the " Voulidons’ " and the " Driytons’ " municipality.

The entire area of Gennadi is like an open museum. Shells, shards, relics everywhere that proclaim a thousand-year-old civilization in the area. There, near the today's village of Vati, is the " Kamyndions’ " municipality of Aindias.

The exquisite village of Gennadi with the good-natured and hospitable inhabitants took its name from the medieval squire Gennadi. During the Middle Ages next to Gennadi were located the villages of "Tha", "Evgalles", "Gefania" that nowadays do not exist.

The word "Gefania", derives from the word ‘Difania’ meaning that there existed a temple of Jupiter ( ‘Dias’ in greek ) who worked wonders.

These small villages ruined from the invasion of the Ottomans, just as the enactments of the Knights inform us (1309-1522 AC).

In Gennadi, there is the temple of Saint Anastasia the Roman that dates from the 6th century and in its interior there are Hagiographies. Nowadays, the hospitable and courteous Gennadinoi are on the borderline of yesterday and today. Yesterday the village was unknown and "off the map", today is the heart and the center of tourism in the eastern side of the island.

Our village is only 64 km far from the town of Rhodos. Its natural gifts are the mountain and the exquisite limpid beaches. It offers Hotels, pensions and lodgings, three restaurants on the beach, five restaurants in the village, five bars and three night-clubs.

The prices for the above accommodation and for the shops are satisfactory for the visitors. There is a police station, a post office, a community clinic, an ambulance for emergency incidents and daily transport with the K.T.E.L. for the town of Rhodes.

The police station is built from Italians with italic architecture and has been used from the Italians as a police station. Until nowadays has not changed its character and still operates as a police station.
